BACKGROUND
After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Biology from UTSA, I volunteered in Oregon 1 year as a Social Services Director at a church, focusing on food security and basic needs. Then, I volunteered 4 years in El Salvador as an Agriculture and Environmental Education Project Manager, with a side-branch in health. That experience, at a time when smart-phones were still new, showed me the role digital technology played in making global knowledge accessible in remote areas, on the other side of the Digital Divide. During that time, I grew graphic design skills to produce a folksy coloring storybook to make environmental education accessible in a culture with high rates of illiteracy.
After returning home, I earned my Master’s in Instructional Design for Technologies Enhanced Learning from Seton Hill University. This path taught me how to podcast, make videos, build web pages, and overall use technology for learning. Since that time, I have mostly worked in the non-profit sector, focusing on community gardening and education, and environmental health and wellbeing. The pandemic has me looking after the health of an elder. I created Wormhole Media Productions in order to work while caring for a loved one.
